Events and Traditions
Torre del Mar lives not only by the sun and the sea; its calendar is defined by celebrations that fill the streets with music, tradition, and energy. Each year, the town transforms into an open stage where popular culture and modern life blend effortlessly. The festivals here are not mere events—they are part of the local identity, a way of feeling the Mediterranean.
Santiago and Santa Ana Fair
At the end of July, Torre del Mar comes alive with its main fair. For a week, the fairgrounds and promenade fill with lanterns, music, and flamenco dresses. The tents offer traditional food, sweet wine, and performances that last until dawn. It is the moment when the entire town celebrates its roots, mixing Andalusian festivity with a coastal atmosphere.
At night, the rides light up the sky, and free concerts draw thousands of visitors. The fair is the highlight of summer—a fusion of tradition, joy, and sea.
Maritime Procession of the Virgen del Carmen
On July 16, the sea becomes an altar. The patron saint of sailors, the Virgin of Carmen, sails through the waters escorted by decorated boats, accompanied by sirens and prayers. The shore fills with faithful followers and onlookers waiting to see her pass beneath a sky lit by flares.
It is one of Torre del Mar’s most emotional celebrations, where faith and seafaring merge in a single devotion. At nightfall, fireworks light up the horizon, closing a day that captures the town’s maritime soul.
Holy Week
Although Vélez-Málaga hosts the historical processions, Torre del Mar celebrates its own Holy Week with solemnity and reverence. Local brotherhoods walk the streets by the sea, creating a unique contrast between the spiritual and the everyday. Candles reflected on the wet pavement and the sound of drums at dusk turn each step into a visual and auditory experience.
For visitors, it is a chance to discover the town’s most intimate and devout side, far from the tourist bustle.
Night of San Juan
The night of June 23rd marks the beginning of summer. Thousands gather on the beach, lighting bonfires and sending wishes into the sea. Families dine on the sand, young people celebrate with music and fireworks, and the water becomes a symbol of renewal.
Torre del Mar lives this night intensely—it is a free, luminous celebration where pagan tradition and popular joy coexist in harmony.
Weekend Beach Festival Torre del Mar
Since 2014, the Weekend Beach Festival has placed Torre del Mar on the international music map. For four days in July, the beach transforms into a vibrant venue that gathers thousands of fans and top artists. Rock, indie, electronic, pop, and rap share multiple stages by the sea, creating one of Andalusia’s most complete festivals.
The atmosphere is unmatched—tents, camping zones, food trucks, and a crowd from across Europe come together for a unique experience by the Mediterranean. The sunset over the main stages has become an iconic image of the Torre del Mar summer.
The Weekend Beach Festival not only boosts local tourism and the economy but has made Torre del Mar a reference point for leisure and music on the Costa del Sol.
